Alex Holloway hails from the jazz and blues city of St Louis, Missouri. While attending university in 2010 he was pulled into the music scene by the roisterous drum playing of future bandmate Collin Cherubim. With very little experience he borrowed a bass and joined Collin in those early jam sessions to form the roots of Memphis Hill. Since then Alex has been brought up playing alongside experienced musicians and taken music courses at Carnegie Mellon. He is making his name playing on a custom long necked bass with flatwound strings he tunes a whole step down. Enamored with Booker T. & the M.G.’s, Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings, and Black Joe Lewis, the conflagration of soul, jazz, funk, rock, and blues that is Memphis Hill is his ideal playground.
